Narrative As Books Seven Years (Seven #1)

Seven years ago, my world ended.
Seven years later, my new life began.

It's been seven years since Lexi Knight lost her brother in a tragic accident. On the anniversary of his death, her brother's best friend shows up unexpectedly - a man she hasn't seen since the funeral. He is no longer the boy Lexi once knew, but a dangerous-looking man with tattoos and dark secrets. He broke her trust and abandoned her family, yet what he reveals makes it impossible to stay angry. Lexi has been secretly infatuated with Austin since childhood, so finding out he's a Shifter just makes him sexier. Dammit.

Austin Cole has returned to the city where he grew up, and just in time. He's lived a hard life these past seven years, and the shadows of his past are threatening to destroy Lexi's family. It's time that she learned the truth about her brother, but there is a shocking twist that Austin never saw coming. Now he must protect her family when her mother and sister wind up in mortal danger. Will Lexi learn to accept the truth about who he is, and can Austin salvage a relationship from the ruins of their past?

Destiny will find you.

48% DNF, unfortunately not happening for me.

*I gave this audiobook an A for both the story and narration at AudioGals*Seven Years is a paranormal romance (PNR) that promises to be the start of another addicting, shifter/werewolf based series! Both the story and the narration are fantastic, reminding me of why I became obsessed with PNR when I first started listening to audiobooks. There is just something magical about a well told, original fantasy that you can settle into based on the narration and can allow it to transfix you into

It was missing one vital ingredient...I think it's pretty widely known that I like my Alpha males to be very ALPHA in a growly, possessive, bossy and controlling way. Unfortunately, the one thing I really, really and truly love about shifter romances is the possessive Alpha, and in this one, he's not particularly possessive. Well, not in the way I have grown to love. I'm all for authors having their own takes and bringing something new to the table but unfortunately, it doesn't work for all

January 27 2019 Update: ⭐⭐⭐⭐I enjoyed this book more the second time around. I liked Lexis independence and devotion to her mom and sister. I am baffled at how ignorant Lexis mom chose to be abut her husband, his behavior and his occupation. Austin was one of the better alphas Ive read, he wasnt so dominant that he took away the females choices. ____________________________⭐⭐⭐This book had all the makings of a great book, so I am not quite sure why it was just okay.Lexi Knight was grieving her

This book has the feel of a first novel which is why I'm bumping up what might have been a 2 star review to 3 stars. There's just an amateurish feel to the whole thing and the romance feels like it takes forever. Information is dealt out in a clunky, info-dump fashion and some of that info comes oddly late when, realistically, it would have been important to impart immediately. I will read the next one and I hope that this author's writing, with experience, evolves into a more mature style.

October 28, 2013I give this one four solid stars. I just thought that Lexi would have been in denial about being what she is, but she just accepted it like nothing. It would've been more believable ( in a paranormal world I guess lol) if she was in denial about what she was and angry about not being a "normal" human. Unless humans knew about all these different `species` and it was not stated in the book. Even then, I'd freak the hell out if someone told me I was a (view spoiler)[ shifter (hide

This review is spot on. :)I would like to add to the list: the rape of the heroine in her childhood (which was totally trivialised and dismissed as
