Els filòsofs romàntics o pre-romàntics, parlant d'art, tenen una concepció ben diferent de la nostra, feta d'escales i d'unes arts superiors a les altres, plens d'infinits i d'indicibles, però posen les bases de la revolució de l'art i de l'estudi ideològic de les belles arts. Schelling encara no ha fet el pas romàntic en el sentit que encara veu fonamentalment l'art com a imitador de la naturalesa, però comença a pintar les primeres pinzellades de la concepció avantguardista de l'art: l'art per l'art, l'art com a expressió de sentiments i altres concepcions que havien d'edificar els romàntics per acabar donant lloc a les noves formes d'art. Lessing, Schelling, Schlegel. Ells posen les bases de l'estudi filosòfic de l'art i, malgrat que les seves teories avui les veiem força antiquades, són necessàries per entendre la història de l'art. Obra muy fértil y muy creativa. A pesar de su dificultad, esta obra de Schelling resulta más fácil de comprender que otras obras suyas como "Sistema del Idealismo Trascendental" o "Bruno". La recomiendo!

Por más que no se deje de reconocer lo genial de la obra, esta filosofía del arte sencillamente me molesta. Si cualquier extremo es peligroso, este límite de idealismo subjetivo irrestricto, este tipo de metafísica sin reparos, por mayor que sea su interés histórico, me parece algo sobrepasado. No negare que muchos de sus elementos son por supuesto aún elementos para pensar, y su valor como el de toda gran obra será quizás eterno. Pero así, tal como queda formulada la totalidad, de la mano del
