I'm not sure whether I'm just getting tired of this series or my expectations were raised after reading his excellent stand-along novel "The Bottoms", or maybe this one just was a bit of a dud, but I'm going to have to stick with only 3 stars for this one. It had a lot of good lines and unusual phrases that are typical of the stories, but the violence was pretty horrific, with plenty of descriptions. I went into this without any idea what it was about. I didn't even know that it was a series and that this was book 6. I also didn't know that there was a TV show made about this series. I really liked Hap and Leonard when I first started this series but now that I am in my 6th book in, I've started to like it less and less. Mostly Hap, he just annoys me now. For example he goes on about loving Brett but really doesn't bat and eye or have much remorse when another woman is willing to offer sex to him. I was really saddened about Charlie but I'm glad Jim Bob was in this story. I didn't like the plot so much in this one. I was hoping for more mystery solving but I swear I felt
